On Friday, September 18th, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died in her Washington D.C home among family and loved ones. In a prepared statement, the Supreme Court announced her death from metastatic cancer of the pancreas. Affectionately known as “RBG,” she was an architect of the legal fight for women’s rights and was notorious for her scathing dissension pieces and resistance against female oppression. Justice Ginsburg was the second woman ever appointed to the supreme court, where she served for 27 years. Ginsburg was educated at Cornell University, Harvard Law School and Columbia Law School before teaching at Rutgers and Columbia and volunteering for the ACLU. In her life, she advocated tirelessly for women’s rights and symbolized a personal protection of bodily autonomy. Following her passing, memorials have been established across the country to honor RBG’s activism and passion.
